Episode 6 “Three Journeys”
Camelot’s knights must defend the castle from dangers found beyond the borders. Guinevere travels alone to meet her father, and Arthur follows secretly.


Episode 5 “Justice”
Arthur creates Camelot’s first tribunal of justice which is created through battle of wills. Morgan is helped by Sybil to reach out to the people of the town on her quest to take back the throne.


Episode 4 “Lady of the Lake”
Merlin sets off on a journey to find a sword suitable for a king by seeking out a legendary sword maker. A conversation with Guinevere changes Arthur and he begins to assert his power by sparring with Leontes.


Episode 3 “Guinevere”
Kay and Leontes seek out a trusted new warrior to join them. Arthur and Merlin accept an invitation to join Morgan at her castle for dinner. Arthur is forced to concede defeat in his pursuit of Guinevere.


In the wake of King Uther’s sudden death, chaos threatens to engulf Britain. When the sorcerer Merlin has visions of a dark future, he installs the young and impetuous Arthur, Uther’s unknown son and heir, who has been raised from birth as a commoner. But Arthur’s cold and ambitious half sister Morgan will fight him to the bitter end, summoning unnatural forces to claim the crown in this epic battle for control. These are dark times indeed for the new King, with Guinevere being the only shining light in Arthur’s harsh world. Faced with profound moral decisions, and the challenge of uniting a kingdom broken by war and steeped in deception, Arthur will be tested beyond imagination. Forget everything you think you is the story of Camelot that has never been told before.


In addition to Arthur’s love, Guinevere, the magician Merlin stands by Arthur, but his support for the new king is complicated, because “his premonitions of Arthur’s sudden rise to royalty also include dark visions of the young heir’s future.” A complicated figure himself, Merlin is described by Chibnall as a kind of “warrior monk,” who has a “duality within him of both a soldier and a spiritual being.”

Camelot is a historical-fantasy-drama television series. It is co-produced by the Starz cable network and GK-TV. The series, based on the Arthurian legend, is produced by Graham King, Morgan O’Sullivan and Michael Hirst. Camelot is the new mega-budgeted adaptation of Britain’s greatest legend that’s being made by the US Starz network (home of Spartacus: Blood And Sand and the new series of Torchwood). Arthur’s journey begins when he’s dragged out of his family hovel and set on his path to Camelot by his future consigliere, Merlin. “If Joe Fiennes with a shaved head and a warrior-monk attitude storms into your house and says, ‘Come,’ you’re going to go,” says Chibnall.


The archetype for every great wizard from Gandalf to Obi-Wan, its Merlin who gets Camelot’s biggest makeover. Gone is the old goat with the beard and staff, replaced with a slap-headed mischief-maker with a nimble way with the art of manipulation. What he isn’t – yet – is a wizard.


Former Torchwood showrunner Chris Chibnall talks about how one of the most pivotal characters in his new US series, Camelot, will be portrayed. “Merlin’s not entirely comfortable with his powers. He has certain visions and powers and doesn’t quite know what to do with them. So it’s a Merlin who’s slightly busking, which he hides with a Donald Rumsfeld attitude, which is ‘You just do as I say’. But magic for Merlin becomes almost like an addiction, in both good ways and bad ways. It’s both joyous and very dangerous. It’s all I’m going to say.”
